Gaidar started his career in software development in 2000 – 2001, creating shareware products – text processing tools, tools for application protection. In 2002 - 2007 was working with a team of six freelancers, developing and deploying web-based line-of-business applications and client-server systems. Since 2002 was the editor-in-chief of popular online resource for developers – Visual Basic Streets. As the same time was contributing to number of web startups as developer, architect, project manager and mentor.For his efforts in promotion of Microsoft technologies, for three times received Microsoft Most Valuable Professional Award. In 2007 started to work at Microsoft as a developer evangelist, then was leading Web Initiative and then Local Software Initiative at Microsoft, supporting startups with technological and business expertise. In 2012 headed Microsoft Seed Fund, providing financial and business support to early stage startups.
