MEDESK through to the Cloud World Cup finals

0 4 June 2014

MEDESK, a cloud platform for private healthcare clinics, has made it through to the final of the inaugural “Cloud Innovation World Cup”.

The Russian company has been nominated in the Smart Living category along with Italian startup Contexta CARE, which has developed a health and environment monitoring system for the elderly, and Croatia’s Teddy the Guardian, a teddy bear with built in medical sensors.

It has also made the final four in for the “Evolve Insurance Award”, a special prize sponsored by the Allianz Digital Accelerator.

The Cloud Innovation World Cup attracted 230 entries from around the world. These were whittled down to 15 finalists across 5 categories. The winners will be announced at the Cloud World Forum at the Olympia National Hall in London on June 17th.

This success comes not long after the project, which is used by more than 1000 doctors, administrators and accountants in 12 Russian regions,  ok second place in the Startup Battle at TechCrunch Moscow in December 2013.

MEDESK’s CEO Vladimir Kovalski is, unsurprisingly, pleased about the nomination.

“We are glad that the international business community has recognised MEDESDK’s significance. Medical establishments need quick, paperless access to a huge quantity of information. Furthermore, it should be quick and easy to transfer this data between clinics, doctors and labs. The cloud makes this possible, and we are pleased to be the first to apply cloud technology to this problem. In doing so, we hope to reduce the cost of private healthcare and make it more transparent, manageable and effective”.
